Got an excited youngster who's eager to get on the water but can't quite fill the boots it takes to be on their own boat? KinderSail might be just right for them! Sailors can sign up for three days of sailing with experienced captains to get used to the feel of the wind in their hair! Participants will show up at the Washburn Marina and put out to sea with one of our experienced captains and a first mate! Participants should be able to handle themselves on a moving platform without falling over, and must have a keen hunger for adventure. Pirate garb and eye-patches not provided, but encouraged.

Join us for a week-long class on Lake Superior to learn the basics of sailing, including rigging, terminology, points of sail, boat handling, knot tying, and general seamanship. Our instructors ensure each student is challenged, regardless of ability or experience, in a fun, safe and encouraging environment.
All 2022 classes are at West End Park in Washburn, WI on beautiful Chequamegon Bay. Monday - Friday (9:00am-12:00pm) Session 1: June 20-24 Session 2: June 27-July 1 Session 3: July 11-15 Session 4: July 18-22 Session 5: July 25-29 Session 6: August 8-12 Session 7: August 15-19 *Session 8 : August 22-26 *Session 8 is considered an advanced youth opti class. There is a requirement that you have taken a previous youth opti class through North Coast Community Sailing in the last two summers.* Youth Class Prices Resident - $75 Non-Resident - $160 A sailor is considered a resident if their primary residence/school is in Ashland, Bayfield, Gogebic or Iron County. This class can be used to become a Junior Instructor for a summer, which can translate into a great summer job for anyone when they come home from college.
