NEW THIS YEAR!
Teen Season Pass

For those who are signing up for a session of 420s, we're introducing a new program this year aimed at widening the types of sailing opportunities available to our teens. As our season is running June 17th - August 24th, every week on Tuesday nights we'll be hosting races on our 420s. Three times this summer we'll also be running adventure programs and going on bigger day trips, sometimes even on bigger boats!

Day passes will be available for these opportunities for $35/day, or the season pass gets you access to all 13 days for just $225. This is available to any teens who have taken a 420 class before and can be signed up for through the same link below.

Classes, Programs, and Events

North Coast's Sailing School formally began in 2001, but our organization has been teaching kids to sail in some form since 1988. Ever since then, we've been putting little kids in big boats and building their skills ever bigger. We love to watch our young sailors develop independence, self reliance, and confidence in addition to their sailing skills. We hope to see you this summer!
KinderSail (Ages 4-7)

Got an excited youngster who's eager to get on the water but can't quite fill the boots it takes to be on their own boat? KinderSail might be just right for them! Sailors can sign up for three days of sailing with experienced instructors to get used to the feel of the wind in their hair! Participants will show up at the Washburn Marina and put out to sea on one of our 23-foot Sonars. Participants should be able to handle themselves on a moving platform without falling over, and must have a keen hunger for adventure. Pirate garb and eye-patches not provided, but encouraged.
Youth Opti (Ages 8-12)

Join us for a week-long class on Lake Superior to learn the basics of sailing, including rigging, terminology, points of sail, boat handling, knot tying, and general seamanship. Our instructors ensure each student is challenged, regardless of ability or experience, in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment.
420 Bridge (Ages 13-18)

New this year! 420 Bridge aims to provide a path for those teen sailors who might be nervous for their move from the little Optimists to the 420s. This three day course puts an experienced instructor alongside students in each and every boat for the full three days of the course. Only six spots are available in each of these courses in order to ensure we have enough instructors for each boat. An instructor in a motorized safety boat will also be available for on-water help. Our goal for this class is to make sure students feel confident going into their next standard 420 class, or maybe even give them a leg up!
Youth 420 (Ages 13-18)

Join us for a week-long class on Lake Superior to learn the basics of sailing, including rigging, terminology, points of sail, boat handling, knot tying, and general seamanship. Our instructors ensure each student is challenged, regardless of ability or experience, in a fun, safe and encouraging environment.

This class can be used to become a Junior Instructor for a summer, which can translate into a great summer job for anyone when they come home from college.
