*NEW Tiered Pricing Structure*
*Tiered Pricing Structure*

This sailing season, Bayfield Rec Sailing is offering a tiered pricing structure for our youth sailing classes. Registrants may choose, at their own discretion, the price that best fits their financial circumstances.

This structure supports our ability to keep sailing accessible to all who live and visit the Chequamegon Bay Region while maintaining long term financial stability.

Tier 1-$150.00
This is our subsidized rate to make sailing affordable for all.

Tier 2- $200.00
This is the cost of running a week of sailing for this season.

Tier 3- 250.00
This is the real cost of running a quality program year after year.

36 years of offering sailing in the Chequamegon Bay has proven the vast generosity of volunteers, donors, and sailing mentors to make it possible for new sailors to get out on the water.

The three tiered pricing model gives an opportunity for those who are able to continue the tradition of giving back to the sailing community and ensuring the financial sustainability of running the program for many more generations to come.

Welcome to Bayfield Rec Sailing for 2026!

Our Opti courses offered throughout the summer are designed for sailors aged 8-12. Our progression based offerings (Opti 1, Opti 2, and Opti 3) ensure that your sailor can be challenged according to their skill/comfort level.

Opti 1 Course Description-

We know how intimidating getting on the water can be for those first time sailors, which is why in Opti 1 we take things slow! Opti 1 is designed for brand new sailors taking the leap into small boat sailing. Starting from the basics, our instructors will introduce sailing topics so that your young sailor feels comfortable. During an Opti 1 course, sailors will have a fellow student sailing partner they can work with, offering a more comfortable sailing experience. This course is recommended for new sailors, or sailors who've taken a course that are looking to reintroduce themselves to sailing.

Opti 2 Course Description-

Opti 2 shares the same sailing curriculum as Opti 1, but each sailing topic is taught at an accelerated pace. Designed for sailors who need may need a quick refresher on sailing topics the Opti 2 classes will advance quicker to spend more time on the water, and in higher winds! Opti 2 sailors are encouraged to try sailing by themselves- trimming the sail and steering at the same time! Recommended for folks who've taken an Opti 1 course before.

Opti 3 Course Description-

Opti 3 is for the sailors that are ready to hop in and sail on their own! In an Opti 3 Course sailors will learn more advanced sailing skills, and spend more time on the water! Show up and rig your boats! Opti 3 is focused on using learned sailing skills for exploration of the Chequamegon bay and racing.
